What do you call the little dangly things on the ribbons? I suspect they're yet another piece of Japanese symbolism / ritual objects in that game I was missing.
I would love to know more of the Ultimania canon you're referring to. I've devoured every scrap of pmog's translations, but somehow I missed this.
Speaking of geeky, I practically want to learn Japanese so I can read the Ultimania Omega guide of a ten-year-old game. Is this not sad?
And finally, an unabashed recommendation for one of the best Final Fantasy X fanfics out there (not my own). If you read fanfiction at all, I think you will like:
Clarion by Justira: the story of Braska's pilgrimage, with Bahamut's fayth as a Machiavellian figure behind the scenes.
I call'em butt mushrooms, as you've noticed
I was just referring to the Fayths' 180° turn that should be in pmog's translations... at least I'm pretty sure I read it there. They were neutral toward Sin's cycle and the spiral of death, being more interested in the perks of shiny d!Zanarkand. Then Jecht happened and they had to come to terms with the fact that 'their people' could suffer for it too. This wake up call is what leads to their attitude during the game. I could swear that this is Ultimania canon with little to no influence of my own headcanons - then again, I have a terrible memory.
What exactly were they thinking when they let him try to go back on a pilgrimage with a single other guardian is anyone's guess. Either someone dies first or it's a 50% chance, buddies... but I can definitely see them pushing Braska's pilgrimage, as you say Justira did (and it turns out in my fics too, sometimes). Thanks a lot for the rec, I'll check it out! I love fics, but I'm more of a oneshot person, so it usually takes a rec for me to embark on a longfic XD That, and I'm not very familiar with the English-speaking FFXdom^^
As for the geeky wish, huh, seconded? XD Said ten-year-old game is still one of the most touching, better-structured and most cohesive stories ever told in a videogame, so... yeah. The bonus materials are out there and I want to know aaaaaaall they have to say. u_u
